NEF (Nikon Electronic Format) is a raw image file format developed by Nikon for its range of cameras. NEF files can be stored in the camera’s memory card in either lossless compressed or uncompressed form. Also, a NEF file is based on TIFF and can be opened on Windows computers after installing Microsoft Camera Codec Pack.
