FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is a free lossless digital audio format developed by Xiph.Org. A compressed FLAC file can be reduced by between 50-70% of the original size and decompress back to the original sound data. This file format supports metadata like ID3 tags, cover art, and album title.
AIF (Audio Interchange File/Apple Interchange File Format) is a sound format used on Windows. It comes with a .aif filename extension and .aiff when used on Mac. An AIF file features raw sound data like sample rate, bit depth, and channel (mono/stereo). This file format is also accepted on most CD writers.
